Get the Measure Ground Control Mobile App

Instructions for downloading Measure Ground Control onto iOS, Android, and Crystal Sky devices

You can create an MGC account from both the web and mobile using standard logins or social login options. Both mobile and web experiences are similar, and you can reference this article for further instruction.

The Measure Ground Control (MGC) mobile app is available on iOS and Android devices and can be manually installed on DJI CrystalSky devices. Unfortunately, MGC is not available on the P4P+ RTK display monitor at this time.

As the MGC mobile app is fairly resource-intensive, it is recommended that pilots use Apple devices from 2017 or newer, or Android devices running Android 8 or newer.

iOS (iPad, iPhone)

The MGC mobile app can be downloaded for free from the Apple Store. It is recommended that users are connected to wi-fi when downloading the app to avoid incurring data charges.

Once the app has been downloaded, simply login to the app using the same username and password you used to log into the web application. NOTE: All users that signed up with standard email rather than social will be prompted to update their temporary credentials through the browser.

Android (Samsung, Nvidia, Google, etc.)

The MGC mobile app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play Store. It is recommended that users are connected to wi-fi when downloading the app to avoid incurring data charges.

Once the app has been downloaded, simply login to the app using the same username and password you used to log into the web application. NOTE: All users that signed up with standard email rather than social will be prompted to update their temporary credentials through the browser.

DJI CrystalSky

Measure Ground Control is supported on CrystalSky devices. Please note that installation will first require the installation of the Google Service APKs on the same device. It is recommended that users are connected to wi-fi when downloading the app to avoid incurring data charges.  For more information on installing Measure Ground Control onto the DJI smart controller please see the knowledge base article here.

Installation

All steps occur on the CrystalSky device:

1. Open the CrystalSky browser and navigate to this page: https://www.measure.com/help/app-download

2. Tap the following links to install the Google Service APKs:

Note: CrystalSky will start downloads in a separate tab. Open the Downloads app to view progress and complete installation of the Google Service APKs:

3. In the Google Play Store search for "Play Services Info (Update)". This is a third-party app that shows whether the currently installed version of Google Play Services is up-to-date.

4. Open "Play Services Info (Update)" and tap "Update" if Google Play Services is not up-to-date. This will reopen the Google Play Store and allows "Google Play Services" to be updated.
5. Open the Google Play Store, search for Measure Ground Control, and install it.
    1. If you experience issues installing Measure Ground Control from Google Play, please go to this Amazon App Store Link, install the Amazon App Store, search for Measure Ground Control in the Amazon App Store, and install it.
    2. If you continue to experience issues installing Measure Ground Control from Google Play Store and the Amazon Appstore, please manually download the Measure Ground Control app here:

6. Ground Control should now be installed on CrystalSky. Fly safe!

Further Notes

  • You may encounter Google Play Store error messages. These can be stopped by going to Settings / Apps / All Apps (swipe left) / Google Play Services - Force Stop.  If you still experience issues with Google Play Services after this, please uninstall MGC, complete steps 14 & 15 from this page, and reinstall MGC.

  • For users in mainland China, our iOS app should be available on the Apple App Store and our Android app can be downloaded from here.
    There are differences in the mapping data used in mainland China which may affect the execution of flight plans.
